Future City winners
Thursday, January 26, 2006

Bexley Middle School students Nathaniel Pelz (left) and Evan Darwin explain their Future City project to competition judges Emily Mullins and Ken Linger Saturday at COSI Columbus. The middle-schoolers' winning "Spirare" city earned the team an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., Feb. 20-22 to compete against 30 other regional champions. Other members of the team are Graham Horn, Jesse Vogel and Brian Yost. The National Engineers Week Future City Competition is designed to provide a fun, educational engineering program for seventh- and eighth-graders, combining an engineering challenge with a "hands-on" application to present their vision of a city of the future.
