HONORARY ALUMNI
John Barr
John grew up in
Westerville, Ohio and graduated from Westerville High School in
1966. He graduated from Muskingum College in 1970 and received a
graduate degree from OSU in 1971.
John worked with the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department from
1972 to 1979. He served as Director of the Napoleon Recreation and
Parks Department from 1979 to 1984 and of the Bexley Recreation and
Parks Department from 1984 to 2002.
During his term in Bexley, he accomplished the following:

Renovation and operation
of Bexley Pool since 1987.

Renovation of Jeffrey Mansion in 1988-89.

Expansion of recreation programming.

Acquisition and operation of Clowson Field and Wolfe Park.

Opened and operated Bexley Teen Center from 1987-92.

Formed teen committee for Bexley Skatepark.
-
Citizen of Year in Bexley in 1994.
John has two sons, one
of whom lives in Southern California. John says he had the great
honor of serving the Bexley community for 18 years and had a lot of
fun doing it too.
