I won
a Nebula Award (science fiction's equivalent of an Oscar) in 2005
for my story, "Basement Magic." My first novel, The Green Glass Sea,
was published by Viking in October 2006 and earlier this month won
the Scott O'Dell Award for historical fiction. It's about two girls
growing up in Los Alamos, New Mexico, during WWII, while their
parents are developing the atomic bomb. I have a collection of short
stories, called Portable Childhoods, that will be published in
April.
